Fire Department Volunteer Programs

Community Emergency Response Team

CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations. CERT prepares you to help yourself, your family, your neighbors and your community in the event of a disaster.
CERT volunteers are trained to prepare for and respond to a disaster until first responders arrive.

Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service

RACES provides (pronounced "RAY-sees"), was created in 1951 primarily to serve in civil defense emergencies to provide essential communications and warning links to supplement State and local governments.  RACES is not an Amateur Radio club, but the members volunteer their  time, skills and equipment to support the City during special events and real world emergencies.
