Huntington Beach Fire Outreach Foundation

Huntington Beach Fire Outreach Foundation

Supporting the HBFD

We are proud to be able to financially support the Huntington Beach Fire Department. Since our inception, we have been able to work with businesses and residents like you to provide funding to purchase some much needed equipment. With your help, we can continue with our task of supporting those serving you.

Huntington Beach Fire Dept Bleed Control Kit

Training Kit for Teachers for Stop The Bleed

With your generous support, the HBFOF has been able to purchase over 95 Individual Bleeding Control Kits for high school teachers for their classrooms. Each kit that includes life-saving stop-the-bleed materials and teacher training is supplied by the HBFD. The kits and training are so important in a school setting because life threatening bleeding can occur from everyday emergencies or other incidents. The goal is one kit in every high school classroom

We are currently doing a special fundraiser “Trauma for Teachers” to purchase more kits.

KINGMAN, THE PEER SUPPORT DOG

Hello! My name is Kingman and I am so happy to meet you! I was born on July 1st, 2019. My journey began in the city of Kingman, Arizona .  I now spend my days as a member of the Huntington Beach Fire Department Peer Support Team. I am the first Fire Department Peer Support Dog in Orange County! I go to Kane’s fire station when he is on duty and I go home with him when he is not working.  We are with each other 24/7. Firefighters have a tough job that requires them to see a lot of scary things like people who have been hurt really bad or are really sick. They often do their job with little sleep and spend a third of the year or more away from their families. My job is to support them by giving kisses, letting them pet my belly, chasing them around, and just being a dog.

Huntington Beach Fire Dept Hazmat Water Test Kit

Hazmat Water Test Kit

The HBFOF was able to purchase a special Hazardous Materials Water Test Kit for the HBFD. When rolling up to a scene with potentially dangerous chemicals or other agents mixed with water, it is vital to know the toxicity of the spill. By having this kit, responders can quickly determine if the scene is hazardous and identify the toxic agent. This ensures their safety and can help avoid environmental issues as well.

We were able to purchase this kit using a grant from a local company.

Huntington Beach Fire Dept Particulate Hood

Particulate Hoods

The HBFOF was able to purchase new Particulate Hoods for the HBFD Firefighters. These hoods are invaluable in providing protection from heat and carcinogenic particles. Research conducted by the FDNY, along with research sponsored by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), collected and evaluated by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), found that hoods provide thermal protection to the head, face and neck and can also help reduce accumulation of potentially carcinogenic particles in these vulnerable areas.

We were able to purchase these hoods as a result of the generosity of the residents of the Brightwater Community who collected over $4,000 to say 'thank you' to the HB fire fighters who saved their community from a 2020 fire in the Huntington Beach wetlands that threatened their homes.
