Spark of Love
History
In the early 1950’s, a firefighter started collecting toys for needy kids in the area surrounding his fire station. This labor of love and generosity took root and grew to other surrounding stations, thus helping the cause and providing for even more kids. This great tradition of that program has carried on from long ago, and continues to help hundreds of needy families each year.
In 1992, a cooperative decision was made to develop a regional toy drive. Known as the “Spark of Love,” local area fire departments teamed with ABC Channel 7 for financial backing, supplies, and media coverage.
Through the combined generosity of businesses and residents like you, each year the Spark of Love program provides gifts to kids throughout the city who would have otherwise gone without. Spark of Love builds goodwill within our community, and provides kids with positive role models.
We are proud to support and assist the HB Fire Department with the yearly Spark of Love campaign. PayPal donations are accepted year round and you can make a donation by clicking here or on the Spark of Love image.
The 2023 campaign has started. Will you make a donation today?
2022
The 2022 campaign was highly successful and your generous support helped provide funding for the 9,071 toys, games, equipment and other items that were donated by you and purchased with your monetary donations. Thank you to everyone who made 2022 such a fantastic program.
2021
For 2021, your generous donations of over $6,500 allowed HBFOF to purchase over 215 higher-end gifts for the upper age children this season. That age group was specifically targeted this year as the collection boxes throughout the City have historically received in the younger age group toys. Although this is a small part of the total of 7,631 toys distributed, the recipients were extremely grateful. Thank you to everyone who made 2021 such a fantastic program.
2020
For 2020, your generous donations of over $5,000 allowed HBFOF to purchase over 400 toys and games for children in need this season. We are so grateful that you helped us support the HBFD, ABC7, and Southern California Firefighters in celebrating the 28th Anniversary of the Spark of Love Toy Drive. Thank you to everyone who contributed! Read ABC7 article here!
2019
For 2019, your generous donations of over $3,000 allowed HBFOF to help celebrate the 27th Anniversary of the Spark of Love Toy Drive by providing over 250 toys and games for children of all ages. We so appreciate your support!
